Overview
Day 1: Chandigarh to Shimla / Narkanda
Start your journey from Chandigarh and drive through the scenic valleys of Himachal Pradesh. Pass by Pinjore, Kalka, and Kufri before reaching Shimla or Narkanda. Enjoy the fresh mountain air and pine-covered hills. Overnight stay at Shimla/Narkanda.
Day 2: Shimla / Narkanda to Kalpa
Drive along the Sutlej River towards Kalpa in Kinnaur. En route, pass through Rampur and witness apple orchards and stunning mountain backdrops. Reach Kalpa, famous for its majestic view of Kinnaur Kailash peaks. Overnight stay at Kalpa.
Day 3: Kalpa to Nako to Tabo
Travel deeper into the mountains towards Nako. Visit the serene Nako Lake and monastery. Continue your drive to Tabo, home to the 1,000-year-old Tabo Monastery, often called the “Ajanta of the Himalayas.” Overnight stay in Tabo.
Day 4: Tabo to Dhankar to Pin Valley to Kaza
Explore Dhankar Monastery, dramatically perched on a cliffside. Drive into the beautiful Pin Valley National Park, known for its wildlife and unique landscapes. Reach Kaza, the main town of Spiti Valley. Overnight stay in Kaza.
Day 5: Kaza Local Sightseeing
Spend the day exploring high-altitude villages and monasteries. Visit Key Monastery, the largest in Spiti. Explore Kibber Village and cross the Chicham Bridge (Asia’s highest). Drive to Hikkim (highest post office), Komic (world’s highest village by road), and Langza (fossil village with Buddha statue). Overnight stay in Kaza.
Day 6: Kaza to Chandratal Lake
Drive across Kunzum Pass and reach the enchanting Chandratal Lake (Moon Lake). Surrounded by snow-capped peaks, this high-altitude lake is a highlight of Spiti. Spend the night camping under the stars (seasonal stay).
Day 7: Chandratal to Manali
After breakfast, drive towards Manali via Kunzum Pass, Batal, and the Atal Tunnel. The route offers dramatic landscapes of Lahaul Valley. Reach Manali and check in at your hotel. Overnight stay in Manali.
Day 8: Manali to Chandigarh
Bid farewell to the mountains as you drive back to Chandigarh. Pass through Kullu Valley and enjoy your last views of the Himalayas. Drop at Chandigarh, marking the end of your Spiti Valley adventure.
